Still, Caesar in Gaul cannot help but address one major problem with Rome 2: its unwieldy scope and slow pacing. For those who were hoping that Caesar might find a unique Total War experience beyond the Alps, this expansion is a bit of a disappointment. For people who were quite happy to buy what Rome 2 was selling, then Caesar in Gaul provides a bit more of the same in a more convenient package. It is, instead, Rome 2 on a different map.

Every faction will have its own unique Hero, rest assured, these can wreak havoc on enemy forces.Rome 2's Caesar in Gaul expansion campaign has a problem with recent history. * Heros: A totally new concept to Total War, command Achilles and Hector in battle. New animations have also been added, by our in house animator Shrimpy. * Totally new units: A completely new set of units that have been designed from the ground up, with new models and skins. * A whole new campaign map, concentrating on Greece and the Agean. * A complete new set of factions, including Troy, Mycenae, Sparta, Pthia, Aetolia, Amazons, Athens, Minoa, Hittities and more. Film Wardrobe designers can create some great ideas!!! Of course, much influence has come from the film Troy, especially in the case of the new skins you will see in the game.

Our aim was/is to produce a mod that covers the period of the Iliad and remain as faithful to history as possible. Troy Total War, as you would expect, brings a totally new gameplay experience to Rome Total War. However, its brave warriors and great heroes stand ready to defend it from all comers. Such trade draws many into jealousy, and so there are many enemies. Though technically subject to the wishes of the Hittite Empire, this city dominates the Aegean coast of Asia Minor and grows extremely rich on trade. One city however surpasses all the rest in riches and splendour. Other Eastern nations cringe before it, and most pay regular homage to its great king. It has had its ups and downs, but now it is by far the most dominant force in Asia Minor. Across the Aegean Sea, in Eastern Anatolia, the Hittite Empire reigns supreme. North of Greece, the Thracians hold power and in far Epirus the barbaric Dorians are threatening to sweep down into Achaea. The Mycenaeans are not the only great power however. Many cities have already succumbed, but much of Greece is still independent. Now his sons, Agammemnon and Menelaus, rulers of Mycenae and Sparta, look to bring the rest of Greece and the Greek world under their dominion. His father Pelops had conquered all before him, granting the land the name 'Peloponnesos' ('the island of Pelops'), and his dynasty reigned supreme in the city of Mycenae. The year is 1270 BC, and in the land of the Achaeans the great king Atreus has just died.
